Afghanistan Relief Organization

Afghanistan Relief Organization (ARO) is a comprehensive humanitarian service provider based in Cypress, CA, dedicated to delivering educational, vocational, and medical support to disadvantaged populations across Afghanistan. Since 1998, ARO has maintained a dual registration as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States and as an accredited NGO in Afghanistan, enabling direct implementation of programs that address critical community needs. The organization operates multiple educational initiatives including English language instruction through the U.S. Department of State's Access Micro-scholarship Program, which has graduated approximately 600 students since 2004. ARO's vocational training center in Kabul provides specialized instruction in auto mechanics, tailoring, carpentry, plumbing, nursing, electronics, and computer repair to over 500 students annually. The organization also offers comprehensive support services including medical assistance, food and hygiene supply distribution, school supply provision, and winter relief assistance. ARO's professional team includes educators holding bachelor's degrees with 8-10 years of teaching experience. Additional programs include sports training in karate, judo, taekwondo, wushu, and volleyball, as well as cultural and literacy classes in Dari and Pashto. As the tenth NGO re-registered by the Afghan government in 2006, ARO maintains good standing and has earned recognition from major media outlets including CNN and the Orange County Register. The organization's commitment to quality implementation and professional standards has served over 3,000 graduates to date.
